About -Traditional Hatha and Yin Yoga: it happens within
In my traditional Hatha and Yin Yoga classes, I focus on simplicity, alignment, and tailor each session to your unique needs. Yoga is your moment, and I believe in creating a practice that adapts to you.
My name is Simona, but most people call me Simi. Born in Switzerland in 1986, I’ve had the privilege of living in various countries and exploring diverse careers, from office work to scuba diving to the world of online business. With a deep passion for languages, I studied Translation and Multilingual Communication and have always loved traveling.
My connection to healing practices has been present since my youth, but it was during a particularly stressful period in 2019 that I discovered Yoga. At that time, I was unaware of the deep healing I needed. I was so arrogant that I said “I don’t need this, I am relaxed” but one day the only sane thing to do was to sit on the ground in meditation. Shortly after, the practice of Asana provided solace and clarity. Though life brought some challenges and stumbles, Yoga became a pivotal turning point for me.
With 593 hours of practice only in 2023 and 2024, I completed my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at the incredible Yoga Shala GuruCat in Durban, South Africa, an experience I’m forever grateful for. Since then, I walk the talk and sharing the transformative power of Yoga has brought me immense peace. I am passionate about helping others experience the same healing power of Yoga that transformed my life.
For many years, I mistakenly believed that Yoga was reserved for the “flexible, flower-wearing acrobatic chicks that could bend like pretzels.” I couldn’t have been more wrong. Yoga is not about being “perfect” or looking a certain way. It’s a practice for everyone, a practice that is both simple and easy, composed of eight limbs according to Patanjali, one of which is the physical practice, or Asana, which is only one-eighth of Yoga. The real challenge lies in confronting the parts of ourselves that whisper in the shadows, but it’s only by uncovering and embracing these aspects of our being that we can achieve true equanimity.
In Yoga, we use the body to get into the pose, and once we’re in the pose, we use the pose to get into the body and connect deeper within ourselves. Our bodies store emotions and memories that we may not even be aware of. Through this ancient practice, we can heal without needing to revisit the past traumas. In my classes, I teach you to go within, feel the emotions, and then let them go.
Thanks to Yoga, I released the victim mentality, healed emotional wounds I wasn’t aware of, and let go of anger and feelings that no longer serve me. The need to control everything subsided to a deep trust in the Universe. Yoga has led me to meet my true self. We are often the product of the words that society has cast upon us like a spell; The jobs we do, the relationships we have, the labels we wear, the adjectives that describe us. But the truth is, we are not defined by these external identities. We are limitless, and the journey of self-discovery is endless.
What her teacher says about her:
Simona completed her 200 hour Hatha Yoga Teacher at Gurucat Hot Yoga, with distinction.
Simi’s natural flair for teaching combined with her vibrant enthusiasm and innate capacity for cooperation made her a popular and loved addition to our close knit community.
She enthusiastically threw herself into every opportunity to support, encourage others and to teach where she could.
Her lust for life, curiosity, generosity and willingness to learn are an inspiration.
Simi’s gift for languages and innate intelligence will stand her in good stead wherever she may choose to live or teach.
We were sad to see her leave , but spread her wings she must. We will miss her, but know that she will be supported and well loved wherever she goes and with whatever she chooses to do with her myriad gifts.
Fly high SimSim and visit often! We love you lots! - Kim
