Not a super flexy slender Yoga chick talks "the Power of Listening"

When Was the Last Time You Truly Listened?

When was the last time you really listened? Not listening to answer, not listening to express an opinion, not listening to judge, but just listening—listening to truly hear what the other person has to say. Can you recall the last time you did this? Listening as if you were a young child hearing a song for the first time?

My wild guess is, it's been quite a while.

We’ve unlearned how to listen. In today’s world, we have the attention span of a goldfish (no offense), and we spend our days scrolling through reels, where anything longer than 30 seconds feels "boring" or challenging. We’re constantly chasing instant gratification, seeking distractions from those deeper, uncomfortable feelings we might not even be consciously aware of. As soon as someone expresses an opinion that feels against us, we’re quick to answer, judge, or walk away.

But listening is more than just a form of respect. When you truly listen, you’re telling the other person, "I’m here. You’re safe. I’m willing to share my energy with you." And this is priceless.

Now, some of you might already be thinking (see what I did there? You’re already forming an opinion instead of just listening!), "But how do I deal with people in my everyday life?" The answer is: Listen.

When you listen, it’s not just your ears at work—you listen with every cell of your body. And by doing so, you’ll pick up on things that are imperceptible to the ear. We are supernatural beings, and even telepathic but some believe we’ve forgotten how to tap into this deeper awareness (perhaps because we’ve been taught to hide so much of ourselves). Food for thought.

Another approach is seeing every situation as a learning opportunity. By truly listening to others, you automatically listen within yourself. You may begin to notice pulls, beats, or tensions in your body. Observe them. See what’s causing them. Only through this awareness will you be able to release these energies and discover new approaches to life.

So, comment, answer, express yourself—but before you do, pause. Read this post again. And listen. 🕉
