Not a super flexy slender Yoga chick talks "the Power of Sound”

Last week, it was dancing, and this week it’s the sound that we dance to. There isn’t a right or wrong, but there are sounds that are better suited for us.

Sound is frequency, and frequency is energy. Since we are made mostly of water, everything we hear affects us on a cellular level. That is why we must be careful with what we expose ourselves to. Your body is basically an orchestra, and every sound you hear plays a note in your internal symphony.

Have you ever noticed that even if you do not love classical music, you somehow feel calm after listening to it? And on the other hand, even if you are a loyal fan of heavy metal, trance, or techno, you never exactly feel zen after blasting it? This has less to do with the lyrics (or the screaming) and more to do with the frequency.

Natural instruments vibrate in harmony with nature. In classical or acoustic music, frequencies often sit closer to what our bodies recognize as natural balance. Modern music, on the other hand, is almost always edited and digitally altered. The standard pitch was shifted from 432Hz to 440Hz, and while this may sound like a small change, it actually affects how we feel the sound.

Some say this was done intentionally to create dissonance, while others simply see it as a byproduct of modernization. Either way, there is something special about the natural 432Hz frequency. It is said to align the body and mind, calm the nervous system, and promote emotional balance. Whether or not science fully agrees, many who listen to 432Hz music describe feeling grounded, clear, and peaceful.

And this is where Yoga comes in. Yoga is the art of tuning the body and mind into harmony. When we chant “Ohm” at the start or end of a class, we are not just making a sound; we are creating vibration. That vibration resonates through the body, balances the energy centers, and helps us connect with the universal frequency of life itself.

In the same way that a violin must be tuned to play beautifully, our body and mind must be tuned to function harmoniously. The sounds around us shape that inner tuning. Too much noise, too much digital chaos, and suddenly we are out of rhythm, anxious, and disconnected.

So take a moment to listen. Not just with your ears, but with your whole being. Notice what kind of music lifts you, what kind of silence soothes you, and what kind of vibration brings you home to yourself.

It is not surprising that kids tend to hum or sing to themselves… is it?
