Not a super flexy slender Yoga chick talks "the Power of the Unknown "

"One is never afraid of the Unknown; one is afraid of the known coming to an end." – Jiddu Krishnamurti

So many people find themselves stuck: waking up unhappy, reliving the same feelings from the day before, and not changing anything in their routine. But why do they stay in this cycle? Are they prisoners of their lives, or prisoners of their minds?

How many of us have faced decisions that could have changed everything, but felt too scared to make a move? How many of us are so accustomed to our comfortable discomfort that, even though we're not happy, we'd rather stay put than take a risk? I believe most of us are prisoners of the fears our minds create. Fear is an ugly beast—one that holds us back from thriving and living to our fullest potential.

Personally, the greatest experiences of my life have hidden behind doors that initially terrified me. But once I opened those doors and trusted the process, I realized that fear was just a mental construct, not an actual danger. We need to learn to discern between different types of fear. Are you afraid to move forward because you see a cobra on your path, and you know it’s venomous? Or are you afraid to move forward because you’re so rooted in your comfortable discomfort? One fear could save your life, the other could hold you back from it. Listen within and observe how your gut feels. Your body will give you very clear signals—if you remember how to listen to it.

I’ve been scared a lot in my life. Growing up in Switzerland 🍫🧀, fear is built into the culture. There’s an insurance for everything. How do insurance companies survive? They thrive on fear, on "what ifs." You become so comfortable with the discomfort of life because "it works"—but what if that "working system" is holding you back from a life filled with real joy?

The moment I opened the door to the Unknown, my life changed. I moved to another country, lived on a boat, started a new job, and left everything behind—literally. This was after spending many years studying, collecting diplomas and certificates because I thought they would guarantee me a "good life." But then the next door appeared, and then another one. Life is full of doors the Universe presents to us, and we don’t need a key to open them.

Thanks to Yoga, I learned to trust the bigger Unknown. I realized we are not the center of anything, just characters on an infinite chessboard. So why take anything too seriously? Tune within—it’s a talent most of humanity has lost to the mind. And if you want to do something (that doesn’t harm anyone and respects universal laws), go for it. Do it.

"It's better to regret what you have done than what you haven't." – Paul Arden

What about you? Has fear ever held you back? Do you have any regrets?
